10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Saturday, February 25, 2012
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 31 King Street, Picton, Ontario
Seedy Saturday is a community event primarily featuring an opportunity for local gardeners to exchange the seeds they have saved. It’s a non-profit public event operated by volunteers. And it’s a special chance for gardeners to find heritage seed varieties and share their seed-saving stories. For more information about Seedy Saturdays, which have been held across Canada for over twenty years, go to www.seeds.ca, which is the website for Seeds of Diversity, a non-profit organization devoted to protecting the seed heritage of Canada (and the world).
This will be the third Seedy Saturday held in Prince Edward County. Last year approximately 150 people were in attendance.
To cover the costs of Seedy Saturday, the organizers are putting together a small raffle basket. This year the basket will be food-focused: preserves, jams, honey, other edibles. Contact: Co-chairs Patricia Gale (613-476-9724) and Fred Holtz (613-393-1731)
