Picton’s version of Aladdin’s cave Gilbert and Lighthall has expanded to encompass both the Marketplace, a treasure trove of home furnishing for your every room in your home, plus a baby section, jewelry and as well as the newly opened Furniture Gallery.
Established in 2005 by Alexandra Bake, following a total renovation of the historic Gilbert and Lighthall building, the store is evolving with a strong respect for the locations historic roots. Established in 1892 as Gilbert & Lighthall Cabinetmakers and Undertakers, the building subsequently housed the Gilbert Furniture Company which then evolved into The County Furniture Gallery and finally Home Furniture until coming full circle with the addition of the furniture showroom which opened on the 1st of October 2011.
Gilbert and Lighthall is open daily all year round and has a strong commitment to serve the needs of the community, providing well designed, well priced products, and combining them with interesting and eclectic pieces to provide an ever-changing and exciting environment in which to shop albeit for a small hostess gift to the furnishing of an entire home.
