ASPEN’S – A PET GROOMING PLACE

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

“The best part of my job, besides the animals, is the creative aspect involved in grooming a pet.”

Owner: Natalie Babcock.

I am a Certified Professional Pet Groomer with 9 years of experience!  I moved to the county in 2009 and opened Aspen’s that same winter.  My 4 legged clients have enabled me to be creative when they walk in a muck and truly allow me to do a job that I love!  My shop is named after a very special Springer Spaniel!  My Mum and I make those famous dog treats!

Specialities:

I provide a wide range of cuts and clips.  Trained at a professional level, I am knowledgeable in show cuts and lines, while my varied working experience has made me quite comfortable in “pet cuts”.  Over the years I seemed to have developed my own style of grooming, a show cut look that is manageable at home!

FUN Stuff:

The best part of my job, besides the animals, is the creative aspect involved in grooming a pet.  I often get to spice up a do with cute pom-poms or topknots… even mohawks!   I also offer colour dying for those daring dogs!

Christmas Specials:

I like to raise money for the Loyalist Humane Society whenever I’m able.  In addition to our on-going donation of $5 nail trims, this Christmas for the month of December, I will be donating $2 from every groom to the LHS!

The Angel Boutique, Decor & More

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Rose always had a dream of being able to bring
happiness, healing and tranquility to others

Owner Rose Strong of “The Angel Boutique, Décor & More” always had a dream of being able to bring happiness, healing and tranquility to others. A dear and special friend’s son had passed away at the age of 10 years, his name was Christian. One year after his passing Rose was struggling with the idea of opening an Angel Store. Her friend was visiting for a morning coffee and said that her son Christian came to her that night and told her that Rose needed to open the store and that she would okay. Rose opened her first store in 2005 in Bronte Village, a suburb of Oakville, Ontario.

Rose’s husband was transferred to CFB Kingston for his final posting in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2010. Along with her husband, Rose moved to the County in June of 2011 to re-open her store “The Angel Boutique, Décor & More”.

Prior to opening “The Angel Boutique, Décor & More”, Rose ran a successful Gift Basket business from her home offering amazing gift baskets designed individually by her. Whether filled with gourmet foods, chocolates, teas and jams or packed with popcorn and movie tickets for a fun family night, the gift basket was a treat for both the receiver and the one who gave it.

Product Selection:
At The Angel Boutique you can find a wonderful selection of collectible Angel Figurines, Hallelujah Angels by Sandra Kuck, Sarah’s Angels, Margaret Furlong Angels just to name a few. You can also find beautiful home décor, jewellry, Angel Reading Cards, Intuitive Books and much more.

SCOTTISH ACCENTS Eats – Treats – Cheeses

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

“We are very pleased that our Scottish heritage allows us to bring
the old Scottish favs to folks who appreciate them.”

Owners: Ian and Elizabeth Batt
We are Ian and Elizabeth Batt who found Prince Edward County by chance on a very cold wintery day 2005 and are so pleased we did. The County used to be a well kept secret in Ontario but no more.It is on the map and we are glad to be part of it.

We are both retired from our respective professions and not wanting to sit on the proverbial porch in the rocking chair, we decided to make use of our Scottish roots having emigrated to Canada in 1968. We have pulled on our Scottish Grannies’ recipes and our experiences with organizing Highland Games and Robbie Burns nights. We are very pleased that our Scottish heritage allows us to bring the old Scottish favs to folks who appreciate them.

Our “wee” shop is situated in the perfect village of Wellington, Ontario and to our surprise/delight we have attracted numerous customers with Scottish/British backgrounds.
