Susan’s Just Because – bed. bath. kitchen.

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Useful kitchen items, beautiful bedding and towels, and great accessories for your home and bath.

Since the summer of 2002, Susan’s Just Because has been a part of Downtown Picton.  In the spring of 2009, Susan Cooke brought together her kitchen and bed and bath stores into one beautiful location in the Edward building at 280 Main St.  Here you will find useful kitchen items, beautiful bedding and towels, and great accessories for your home and bath.  Many local brides use their Bridal Registry and choose from quality brands that will provide years of pleasure.

Susan’s Just Because has a large assortment of beautiful sheets and bedding in stock.  They also have a variety of fabric samples to view should your choice or size not be in the store.    Natural fabrics such as Egyptian cotton and wool are a comfortable and affordable choice.  Susan’s also has a large selection of pillows and duvets from microfiber to goose down, so you may choose exactly what is right for you.

Susan’s Just Because is the place to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list this year, and the staff look forward to welcoming you to the store.

ASPEN’S – A PET GROOMING PLACE

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

“The best part of my job, besides the animals, is the creative aspect involved in grooming a pet.”

Owner: Natalie Babcock.

I am a Certified Professional Pet Groomer with 9 years of experience!  I moved to the county in 2009 and opened Aspen’s that same winter.  My 4 legged clients have enabled me to be creative when they walk in a muck and truly allow me to do a job that I love!  My shop is named after a very special Springer Spaniel!  My Mum and I make those famous dog treats!

Specialities:

I provide a wide range of cuts and clips.  Trained at a professional level, I am knowledgeable in show cuts and lines, while my varied working experience has made me quite comfortable in “pet cuts”.  Over the years I seemed to have developed my own style of grooming, a show cut look that is manageable at home!

FUN Stuff:

The best part of my job, besides the animals, is the creative aspect involved in grooming a pet.  I often get to spice up a do with cute pom-poms or topknots… even mohawks!   I also offer colour dying for those daring dogs!

Christmas Specials:

I like to raise money for the Loyalist Humane Society whenever I’m able.  In addition to our on-going donation of $5 nail trims, this Christmas for the month of December, I will be donating $2 from every groom to the LHS!

SCOTTISH ACCENTS Eats – Treats – Cheeses

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

“We are very pleased that our Scottish heritage allows us to bring
the old Scottish favs to folks who appreciate them.”

Owners: Ian and Elizabeth Batt
We are Ian and Elizabeth Batt who found Prince Edward County by chance on a very cold wintery day 2005 and are so pleased we did. The County used to be a well kept secret in Ontario but no more.It is on the map and we are glad to be part of it.

We are both retired from our respective professions and not wanting to sit on the proverbial porch in the rocking chair, we decided to make use of our Scottish roots having emigrated to Canada in 1968. We have pulled on our Scottish Grannies’ recipes and our experiences with organizing Highland Games and Robbie Burns nights. We are very pleased that our Scottish heritage allows us to bring the old Scottish favs to folks who appreciate them.

Our “wee” shop is situated in the perfect village of Wellington, Ontario and to our surprise/delight we have attracted numerous customers with Scottish/British backgrounds.
