Through each encaustic painting Andrew brings the view into an organic sky landscape unlike any other.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Andrew Csafordi, Andrew Csafordi Encaustic Studio Gallery
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art, Andrew majored in drawing & painting, communication and design.  He has continued to consistently paint, sculpt and exhibit his art throughout his 30-year career as a professional designer, illustrator and creative director of several creative studios, and for the past 12 years, has co-owned the successful creative design studio, Fire Engine Inc. with his partner, wife and fellow artist, Tara Wilkinson. Andrew has created paintings and sculptures for both corporate and personal clients. Andrew and Tara (Love Nest Studios) are proud members of the Prince Edward County Arts Trail, and welcome over 1,000 visitors to their lovely farm, studios and galleries every year.

ANDREW’S ART
Through each encaustic painting, Andrew brings the viewer into an organic sky landscape unlike any other. Rich layers of imagination, pure beeswax and damar resin medium, dry pigments/oils, as well as fibre, wood, metal and other materials, are used in combination to tell a story. Sometimes moody, sometimes whimsical, always thought-provoking, Csafordi’s paintings seem, at times, as if he has reached down and ripped up the earth to show his viewers what lies beneath the surface … both literally and metaphorically. Each painting offers a portal into one’s imagination, and to a mysterious, luminous and textural world beyond.

Moonlight on the Lake B&B, Kitchen and Vineyard

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

“An invitation to a party and serendipity brought us to beautiful Prince Edward County.”

Owners: Suzanne Lafrance and André Giroux
“An invitation to a party and serendipity brought us to beautiful Prince Edward County. After 30 some years in hospitality and owning restaurants, a second life as operators of a B&B was a natural outcome. Our property on Huyck’s Point Road in Wellington, on the shores of Lake Ontario, is pure joy to our lives and provides me with daily inspiration in my cooking and baking, a continuance of my career as a chef outside the restaurant arena. Therefore, our home has become a destination as Moonlight on the Lake B&B, Moonlight’s Kitchen and our vineyard of 650 vines.”

Christmas Specialties
October and November are marathon baking months: traditional treats such as mincemeat, brandied fruitcakes, both aging as we speak, French Canadian tourtières of different flavors, this summer’s sweet and savory preserves and many more items.

Special Events
My delicious treasures will be available for purchase at three upcoming markets: Wassail’s weekends of Nov.26-27 and Dec. 3-4 at The Inn, at Huff Estates Winery, and Busy Hands, Dec. 10-11, above the Picton’s Books and Co. bookstore. Or take a scenic drive and pop in…A call beforehand to ensure that I am home is a good idea.

Year Round
Some of my products are seasonal, and some are available all the time. Our place is a beehive of activities: gardening, tending to our vines, cooking, winemaking, hosting our many B&B guests and some great cross country skiing when winter cooperates. Guests are welcome to take part in these experiences in our package offerings of cooking classes, girls time out at the spa, vineyard seasonal care and with luck, Xcountry in the back woods to a nearby winery. Of course, coming for pure relaxation without any agenda, is also encouraged!

Wassail!

Friday, November 21st, 2008

wassailkingqueen3Last night, Waring Hall acted as the backdrop for the 2nd annual Wassail Kick Off Gala. Designed to toast the end of another growing season, the festival will continue over the next two weekends (November 22 and 23 and November 29 and 30) with local wineries, the cidery and the brewery offering an assortment of seasonal goodies from mulled wines, spiced ciders or special beers to comfort food munchies.

At the launch, the Command Performance Choir provided the music and numerous local wineries along with Barley Days Brewery and the County Cider Company poured the drinks. The mood was merry as the winegrowers seemed happy to have yet another harvest season behind them. Particularly cheerful were Richard Johnston and Vida Zalnieriunas of By Chadsey’s Cairns winery who were crowned King and Queen with last year’s Queen, Rita Kaimins of Waupoos Estates Winery on hand to pass them the Wassail cup.

For more details about Wassail, check out the website of the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association (PECWA), www.thecountywines.com.
