Last night, Waring Hall acted as the backdrop for the 2nd annual Wassail Kick Off Gala. Designed to toast the end of another growing season, the festival will continue over the next two weekends (November 22 and 23 and November 29 and 30) with local wineries, the cidery and the brewery offering an assortment of seasonal goodies from mulled wines, spiced ciders or special beers to comfort food munchies.

At the launch, the Command Performance Choir provided the music and numerous local wineries along with Barley Days Brewery and the County Cider Company poured the drinks. The mood was merry as the winegrowers seemed happy to have yet another harvest season behind them. Particularly cheerful were Richard Johnston and Vida Zalnieriunas of By Chadsey’s Cairns winery who were crowned King and Queen with last year’s Queen, Rita Kaimins of Waupoos Estates Winery on hand to pass them the Wassail cup.
